Winfield S. Hancock

This painting was one in a set of four that resulted in a limited print set and was featured in Gods and Generals: The Paintings of Mort Künstler (by James I. Robertson, Jr.).

The four paintings included Stone Wall, which depicts General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson; Dignity and Valor, which features General Robert E. Lee; An American Hero, depicting Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain; and The New General, which portrays General Winfield Scott Hancock. Each image features a key historical figure from the period of the Civil War covered by the book, Gods and Generals. The limited edition prints are individually numbered and personally signed by Mort Kunstler – America’s most-collected Civil War artist.
