Jackson on Little Sorrel

While in command at Harpers Ferry, Jackson purchased a small horse that he intended to give to his wife.

Yet when he first mounted the animal for a test-ride, a bonding took place. "Little Sorrel" and "Old Jack" were inseparable thereafter. The horse became his favorite mount, as well as one of the most famous horses in American military history.
